10 gifts perfect for office ‘Secret Santa’

SecretSantapic

As office Christmas party invitations start dropping in inboxes up and down the country the dreaded spectre of office ‘Secret Santa’ draws closers.

While some people revel in the responsibility of buying thoughtful gifts for their colleagues others often settle on a trip to the nearest tat vendor to pick up a jokey-something for someone they’ve never spoken to knowing full well it’ll end up rotting in a desk drawer five minutes after being received.

If you fancy making a bit more effort this year, even though you know you’ll still probably get something rubbish in return, then you might enjoy the following suggestions. If nothing else they might ensure you still have a job in the new year…

For the office comedian…

There’s always one guy in the office with a joke or two up his sleeve (usually not funny), if you want to show him how to get proper laughs maybe drop him a hint with one of Play.com’s myriad of comedy DVDs. For less than £10 you can get stand-up performances from everyone from Johnny Vegas and Billy Connolly to Russell Brand and Ricky Gervais.

For the office romantic...

If you’re an office Romeo desperate to drop a subtle hint about your feelings for your office's resident Juliet, you could do worse than these playful Shakespeare themed love magnets.

For the Ryan Gosling fan (there’s always one)…

It’s probably not going to be possible to organise a date with Hollywood’s heartthrob of the moment (for less than a tenner) but you can give someone the next best thing – the chance to colour him in.

For the office busy body...

Useful and stylish, these 2013 Action Diaries are the perfect size for both pockets and handbags. You best hope your resident bossy boots hasn't been so organised to source one for themselves.

For the one who looks stressed…

If you want to play it safe with your Secret Santa recipient, then the Body Shop is a very suitable option. Bath salts, shower gels, moisturisers…they’re all scented to perfection and very affordable. Why not try the mango shower and moisture set for a little Christmas exoticism.

For the social media slacker…

If you’re really eager to creep someone out in the office, or just want to play a joke at the expense of the guy and gal who are constantly on Facebook rather than doing their work, then this social media shower curtain is perfect.

For the tech geek…

Phone accessories are a fine budget present option if you know of someone waltzing around with a fancy new iPhone. Gear 4’s Ice Box Edge Case will protect without bulk and comes in both black and white for under a tenner (including delivery).

For the tea maker…

If you know someone who is constantly in the office kitchen making a cuppa then they might as well learn something. The ‘Really Useful’ mug has all manner of handy facts, figures and household tips to educate and entertain your favourite tea drinker.

For the sweet tooth…

You can’t go wrong with chocolate and when they’re as tasty as those from Hotel Chocolat it’s even better. For less than a tenner you can get these Tipsy Christmas Puddings which are fabulously festive.

For the foodie…

Know someone in the office whose packed lunches always look that bit tastier than everybody else’s? It’s a sure fire sign they spend time in the kitchen so a new oven glove is bound to be handy. This Teatime Spotted Floral Oven Mitt by John Lewis should do the trick.
