Mega cashback is back at Orange with £150 Quidco available on *any* Orange pay monthly mobile phone contracts. This deal is only on until midnight Thursday (13th November) so get in quick if you want to get this huge amount. The cashback does apply across all the Orange mobile phone contracts including new handsets like the SE C905 with 8 megapixel camera, the Tocco F480 and LG KC910. If you spot a particularly good deal at Orange let us know in the comments!

If you have an Orange mobile contract you also get 2-4-1 cinema tickets every Wednesday through the Orange Wednesdays promo.

With that in mind Orange have given us ten £10 Odeon gift vouchers to giveaway! This giveaway will be open to any Quidco member and we're keeping it simple. There's two steps to getting a chance to win: (1) visit Orange through the Quidco link to check out their current offers and then (2) come back to Quidco and post a comment in the blog below letting us know what your first mobile was. A few of us here had those old Motorola bag phones that plugged in to the cigarette lighter but we bet some of you have owned even more archaic pieces of mobile history ;)

Orange £150 Quidco cashback

Enjoy!

(Please note this applies to new mobile phone contracts only, and does not include sim-only contracts or mobile broadband. Upgrades or purchases made in the business store are not included in this cashback offer.)

You must to post a comment.

any idea how long Orange take to pay? i took out a contract with £150 cashback back in July - they initially said payment due in october, then november, then december, now january (only until february...). do they ever pay?

SuperBob November 28th, 2008 a 09:44 am

Chose the phone and the plan. Just need to be paid

nimishshah November 23rd, 2008 a 06:04 pm

When are the winners of the vouchers to be announced?

neilcranston November 21st, 2008 a 11:02 am

I ordered my mobile before midnight on 13th Nov (I called Orange and they have confirmed this). It originally validated at £150 (I have a print out to prove this), it then changed to £50 shortly afterwards. The phone was delivered this morning (21st Nov). I haven't activated the phone yet. My Quidco account still shows as £50! We were told to 'sit tight' and the validation amount would change back to £150 - this clearly isn't happenning for some people. Can anyone at Quidco please explain what is going on and advise what customers in this situation should do?

Brooks November 20th, 2008 a 08:31 pm

i was told to raise an earning enquiry for this issue as mine changed to £50 from £150. It was declined by Quidco without any explanation! As a result, I cancelled and sent back the phone today.

JPW007 November 20th, 2008 a 06:33 pm

It still says £50 on my account - I ordered at 10.30pm. I don't have faith in this being sorted out so the phone is going back on Saturday morning!

pardip November 20th, 2008 a 06:22 pm

I'm in the same situation, ordered before midnight but still validated at £50. I submitted an enquiry today. If not sorted by the end of my cancellation period I shall be cancelling. Sort it out Quidco!

bingobunny November 20th, 2008 a 05:35 pm

I confirmed my purchase with Orange was before Midnight, but Quidco have not honoured what they said above by changing the validation back last Monday.

laurenzo99 November 20th, 2008 a 04:10 pm

does anyone know when winners of vouchers will be announced?

IanSea November 19th, 2008 a 08:23 am

I'm having trouble activating my SIM online, would it be OK to do this by phone or would this invalidate the cashback because it hasn't been done completely online?

brani November 18th, 2008 a 10:28 pm

my £150 still declined, though when my phone arrived on saturday 15th I rang orange to activate my sim and asked them when my online transaction went through she said thursday 13th, but do orange have a get out clause by sending confirmation emails out after the deadline? Im really disheartend yes it may be greed on my part but I really didn't intend to get a new phone for quite a while!!

shaunuk November 18th, 2008 a 01:47 pm

My phone arrived today, orange were very late with acknowlegment, confirmation to the extent were i became unsettled and was contemplating contacting them via phone, but again i did not want to do this just incase they then stated at a latter date that the transaction was not done wholly online!!!!, my transaction tracked and validated at 150gbp after 20mins with quidco , so fingers crossed the 150gbp should be forth coming in which case i have made a very good purchase.

mutsnuts November 18th, 2008 a 01:36 pm

Mine tracked and validated at £150 within 20 mins of ordering on the 13 Nov, i think the phones going back though as it keep locking up, the software is full of bugs, some things dont work at all and theyve cut my package from 75mins to 40! and texts cut from 150 to 80!

JPW007 November 18th, 2008 a 01:18 pm

Yes, I think I am going to send the phone back when it arrives on thursday. Just spotted that topcashback are offering £100 for new Orange contracts this week. Come on Quidco, please sort this £150 mess out! Has anyone got tracked cashback at £150?

pardip November 18th, 2008 a 10:52 am

Still waiting for my transaction to change from £50 to £150 too. Not looking good! I shall cancel if it doesn't change by the end of 7 day cancellation period.

JPW007 November 17th, 2008 a 10:37 pm

My account still states that it has tracked at £50? According to the main post above it is supposed to change to £150 today - Doesn't seem to have worked. looks like Orange is about to loose another customer!

Stephen Linton November 17th, 2008 a 08:45 pm

Ordered mine a week ago and received acknowledgement email. Heard nothing since and despite clearing temp internet files and cookies it hasn't tracked.

Reading comments here I have my doubts I'll see my cashback. If it arrives they'll be getting it back and will have lost a potential customer.

Brooks November 17th, 2008 a 05:50 pm

QuidcoCarol can you advise if all ok with the orange tracked amounts now? They were meant to be sorted today. Thanks

November 17th, 2008 a 01:29 pm

ive had same problem but orange put it thru with new order number so it looks like its a telsale so quidco cashback gone down drain and orange customer service wont help ! told tham to shove it!

louiselaskey November 16th, 2008 a 04:14 pm

Rang Orange sales, explained the problem and they found it was to do with the security code on my card. Put the order with the same order number through and now arriving Tues. Hope this helps, give them a ring.

whitmarsh November 15th, 2008 a 07:12 pm

I have exactly the same problem louiselaskey. Have emailed Orange twice at the same address you gave, but no response. My phone was supposed to be delivered yesterday before 12. What is going on??

louiselaskey November 15th, 2008 a 02:11 pm

I ordered Tues night, the 150 tracked immediately, but got an e-mail from orange to reply to webcabinet@orange as there were some details they needed to check. I've mailed them 4 times now with no response.

Has any one else had this? I'm wary of ringing up as they said they would cancel the order and put it through again and I have the feeling this won't track in quidco...

Help!

ajhall73 November 15th, 2008 a 02:00 pm

Help too - ordered on tuesday it crashed on delivery payment page and then got an email which said i needed to get in touch to clarify a few details and when i did they took delivery payment over the phone. This never tracked.
On Weds phoned and they said didn't know if it would validate so I asked about cancelling and was told had 7 days once delivered. I decided to try and order again online on weds night. This time it worked and by friday i have had a validation. 1st phone delivered yesterday and have had email about clarification about the 2nd phone. but no 3.99 delivery payment has come out of account yet.
Which order has been validated?? Asked for 2nd phone to be delivered Mon.

markmuddimer November 15th, 2008 a 12:11 am

My first phone was Phillips Savvy mobile. What a fantastic brick it was!

MintyMat November 14th, 2008 a 11:23 pm

I'd worry. Sounds like they track in minutes. I think Orange have messed up big time for lots of us. Had to cancel mine this morning. Just not competitive without the cashback.

chrissheldon November 14th, 2008 a 11:17 pm

ordered thursday night, not tracked yet, should i be worried ??? first mobile, a BT brick

justpeyton4now November 14th, 2008 a 11:06 pm

Cant remember the first but then had a motorola flip phone. Haven't had a mobile in almost 2 years and I love being without one most of the time. I do like going to the cinema though :)

satansoft November 14th, 2008 a 09:20 pm

further from my last post, I now have 2 mobile phones on the way. . . .

1900al November 14th, 2008 a 08:46 pm

my first mobile was a huge cellnet that i got through barclaycard about 15 years ago!

littlesheepy November 14th, 2008 a 07:57 pm

I think my first mobile was a Nokia 5210??

waihunglee2002 November 14th, 2008 a 07:54 pm

My first phone was literally a brick, one of those Nokia's (5100 I think) where you could change/swap the covers

November 14th, 2008 a 07:43 pm

My wife ordered her new phone but not tracked at all yet , suppose will have to wait and see if it tracks later !

QuidcoCarol November 14th, 2008 a 07:04 pm

Hi all, please note the update in the main post: UPDATE *** Some members have noted that their transactions changed to £50, but validated transactions made through 23.59pm Thursday, 13th November, will be honoured at £150.00. ***

If your transaction was made prior to then but has changed to £50, please hang tight.. we've been advised by the network that the correct amount will be showing on Monday.

bingobunny November 14th, 2008 a 06:35 pm

I also ordered an orange mobile contact at about 11pm last night and see my £150 was declined and replaced with £50. Not happy........

davidbullock November 14th, 2008 a 05:34 pm

Ordered an orange pay monthly contract at about 11:00 last night. Checked my quidco account today to see it had validated at £50 and I had £150 declined. Why has this happened? I think I did everything I should have to receive the full £150 cashback. Any ideas welcome.

will172 November 14th, 2008 a 05:26 pm

i had a nokia

woodleykins November 14th, 2008 a 05:04 pm

Have just received email to say that order has now been dispatched, to arrive within 3 working days. £150 is still validated, so fingers crossed.........

brani November 14th, 2008 a 04:54 pm

NOT VERY HAPPY!!!!!! £150 validated yesterday still ther this morning, this afternoon declined but £50 in its place instead. what a cheat they excepted my order and confimed it how many other people have been conned like this?

nessran22 November 14th, 2008 a 04:25 pm

"Some folks have expressed concern with regard to previous transactions. We would ask members to look at the tracking stats for this merchants, which show 94% tracking successfully. Of the remaining 6% which became earnings enquiries, 87% of those were successful. That means that overall, 99% of the transactions made through Quidco with Orange have been successful. We hope youâll agree thatâs a very good record!"

.............That's a brilliant record, unless of course you're like me and still waiting for the £150.00 cashback from July.

rubbbbbby November 14th, 2008 a 03:31 pm

my first fone was a sagem brick!! And I gave it to a friends nan when I upgraded forgetting some rude messages were on it.

satansoft November 14th, 2008 a 03:22 pm

I think orange are screwing up big time. . I ordered yesterday teatime, not tracked by 10pm so I rang orange gave them my order number and they said it wasnt a valid orange order number. .and they had never heard of Quidco? so I reordered, and the process timed out near the end. . . so I reordered and at the end of the order it said I had failed the credit check. .

I have been an orange customer for 10 years and never missed a payment. So I went online and checked my experian account and my credit check is perfect, and it also showed that no-one had run a check on my account for at least 3 weeks. . Then I check quidco later and I have 2 x £150 validated ?? Strange. . . obviously one of them will die at some point. . .

JPW007 November 14th, 2008 a 02:59 pm

My cashback tracked at £150 today, but it now states that it has been declined. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I cancel?

rob200375 November 14th, 2008 a 01:32 pm

is anyone else having problems getting emial confirmation etc from Orange

Gwil November 14th, 2008 a 01:27 pm

My C902 arrived this morning, and the £150 has validated ok. I'm having trouble activating it and sending my PAC code online, does everyone think that's ok to do over the phone?

kawaljit November 14th, 2008 a 01:24 pm

Just had an email to say my C905 in black is out of stock. I can wait for who knows how long, or change to the silver C905.

Quidco, If I wait or change the handset, would either of these invalidate my £150? ?

Thanks.

brani November 14th, 2008 a 01:23 pm

i have heard orange are having trouble with emailing at the moment i ordered my mobile at 23.00 last night they've given me an order no. plus the £150 has been valadated. 12 hours later still no email mobile meant to be delivered 2morrow have to wait n see??

woodleykins November 14th, 2008 a 01:05 pm

Has anyone received their order yet, please? Still waiting to hear back from Orange.....

mutsnuts November 14th, 2008 a 12:31 pm

OMG just found an old mobile in the attic, its a Motorola Portable, cream in colour, weighs about 3kg lol, totaly forgot i ever used this, need to find the box and stuff for it now and get it on ebay lol

strepcells November 14th, 2008 a 11:50 am

I remember my first phone and the joy I finally felt in having one (last of my peers to do so). At the time I thought it was amazing with its new polyphonic ringtones co mpared to the monotones on my mfriend's phone. It was the unmistakeable combination of blue and orange that was the Nokia 3510i.

Not as old as some of the ones above but then again I was late to the mobile ownership club lol

homerpovey November 14th, 2008 a 11:41 am

My first phone was a Nokia 5110, I can't believe how bad it looks now as I've still got it ...I wonder how much I'd get if I sold it? it's got to have some antique value :D . It's quite amazing how the technology has moved on so quickly.

Ordered a Samsung U900 Soul last night and quidco has been validated so fingers crodssed.

Uberkiwi November 14th, 2008 a 10:44 am

Cmon Quidco, lets have another cracking Vodafone deal next (please :P )

MintyMat November 14th, 2008 a 10:07 am

a Phillips with a tiny little screen. I think I had to phone them up to activate text messaging.

Ordered an LG Secret last night but didn't track and got the email about payment query so cancelled this morning. Shame, looked like a good deal but I'll stay with o2 now.

2439laura November 14th, 2008 a 07:37 am

I would love the Samsung Tocco, it looks so good. Samsung make good quality phones compared with the old VK I have just now.

craighindle November 14th, 2008 a 02:05 am

sagem long one, quite thick was nothink as good as the ones these days but maybe stronger.

dreich November 14th, 2008 a 12:48 am

Nokia 5120. Seems like a brick now but good at the time. Good build quality and usability compared to some phones I have had since (hello LG!).

bobbleman November 14th, 2008 a 12:42 am

btw, the Quidco clock is an hour out, still on summer time.... its only 11:41pm on Nov 13th.

bobbleman November 14th, 2008 a 12:41 am

First phone was a Motorola M301 on the original One 2 One network, now T-Mobile, in the days when coverage was limited to the M25! Cost about £270 for the phone! Battery life of about 40 minutes talk time (the good old days of 5V phones) !!

Still have the phone in a cupboard as a momento :)

sunlinesam November 14th, 2008 a 12:23 am

I cant remember what model my first phone was but it was a Samsung, small and very basic. Had always said i never wanted a mobile phone...don't think i could live without one now!

MY FIRST PHONE IS ERRICSSON 788, CLASSIC.

simonleekp November 13th, 2008 a 11:03 pm

craigandmel November 13th, 2008 a 11:00 pm

jaynetim November 13th, 2008 a 10:24 pm

xsazzyjayx November 13th, 2008 a 10:09 pm

My first phone when I was 11 was a massive Motorola Brick (not sure the make haha)...and it had a massive chunky aerial! It was on Orange PAYG and I remember that for a long while after midnight text messages were free!! haha!!!

Hendo9 November 13th, 2008 a 09:06 pm

Im Gutted.
Wanted the C905 in black for upgrade.

Dont have it in stock, yet still do for "new customers"

Dont ask how that works

miffyl November 13th, 2008 a 08:35 pm

Have remembered what my handsets were - a Mitsubishi MT7 followed by a MT11.
My other mates had Nokia 101's and 232's. Ah, the days of paying a fortune for the handset, £35 connection charge, £29 per month line rental with no included content and then all the charges for calls on top. SMS weren't really around then, it was calls only.

Go back in time here: http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia-phones-f-1-0-p4.php

Happy days...

Catelin November 13th, 2008 a 08:22 pm

Got my first phone soon after I started working. It was a Nokia something, with a huge antenna sticking out of it. Thought I was so cool and grown up. It was huge compared to today's phones - had to buy a bigger bag to carry it. Will be buying an Orange phone for daughter for Christmas - can't tell you which one :) She will only need to slip this one into her back pocket.

satansoft November 13th, 2008 a 07:35 pm

Just ordered the LG Renoir but its been 30 mins and not tracked on quidco yet.

My first mobile was a Nokia 6110 (the original one, not the new one) and I customised it with a flashing LED aerial. It didnt have interchangeable covers, but I took it to bits and sprayed the cover metallic blue. . ahh those were the days.

mutsnuts November 13th, 2008 a 07:27 pm

Just got the nokia 6500 slide on £20 per month contract, tracked and validated 20mins later at £150 :) bargain :) :):)

tyro November 13th, 2008 a 07:21 pm

my first phone was a sony erricson brick

normanchesterton November 13th, 2008 a 07:16 pm

ajaymp November 13th, 2008 a 06:37 pm

I too have been asked to fax the proof of address and then it will be delivered...

cheers

Aj

@kian1

as said earlier if it has not tracked pls cancel and re order..till today midnight..

marshmallow1980 November 13th, 2008 a 06:17 pm

my first phone was the erriccson 'brick' with the flat plastic bit that changed the cover colour - it had a one line digital display meaning you had to scroll across sms to read them - taking ages!

dtether November 13th, 2008 a 06:17 pm

First mobile was a Motorola whose number I don't recall but it came with two garish rubber covers - one in dark blue, one in red - and a hard cover in Mustard - those were the days of REAL style, bad style!

kian1 November 13th, 2008 a 06:10 pm

I ordered mine last night and no validation from quidco. :(
Do you think I should cancel and re-order?

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 06:03 pm

Ok, they wanted a letter with proof of address and they wanted me to fax it across, dont have a fax, they then advised me to scan and email - I dont have a scanner.

Cancelled it all, but wrote this anyway in case anyone was having a similar problem at the credit check stage - its best to give them a call.

Markro November 13th, 2008 a 06:03 pm

For those concerned about ordering through Orange, have at look at Beepy (on Quidco). You get an immediate £40 cash back and can still order an Orange phone.

Whilst you will NOT benefit from Orange's online £5 per month discount ie You'll pay £25 for the Canary 25 deal I mention above, the "Upfront Cashback" deals are very attractive. Upfront cashback means sending Beepy your first fully paid bill (ie your 2nd orange bill) at which point they will send you the entire cupfront cashback - so it's not like those "send every third, fifth, square rooted, prime numbered bill at full moon intervals to receive a proportion of cashback deals.

As I have just received my son's second bill, I'm just about to send it off dor my £135. Wish me luck.

The Beepy "upfront cashback" deals seem very good value with Beepy if they work. My son's phone is a very fancy HTC Diamond. The deal (Orange) was £25 per month for a dolphin 25 then the £40 Quidco cashback which I've already got, then the £135 "upfront cashback". This works out at £17.71 per month for a rather spectacular phone.

If I'd gone directly through Orange, with the Canary £25 tariff, I'd have had to pay bucket loads for the phone (which was free through Beepy).

They are worth a look.

crawshie November 13th, 2008 a 05:56 pm

Just placed an order around 4.00pm. Had an e-mail from Orange saying that they were doing a credit check. Checked my E-mails 10 minutes later and the order was confirmed with a second e-mail from Orange. Just checked my Quidco account and the payment for £150.00 has been validated! Fingers crossed!

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 05:56 pm

Markro, thanks.

Currently on the phone with Customer Services now...something about the credit check has been 'stuck' in the system - watch this space :)

Batra November 13th, 2008 a 05:54 pm

quidco , pls ave a look in my account. it hasnt validated yet. pls see if i will get this cashback of need to reoder before tonite.

Markro November 13th, 2008 a 05:51 pm

UberKiwi
No - my email began "Thank you for choosing Orange - we've got your order." Then had an order number and delivery details. No mention of a credit check at all. We'll see if it's delivered as promised!
All in all, for me, a very easy, quick and satisfactory process so far...

Watch this space...

Anonymous1871 November 13th, 2008 a 05:10 pm

Nokia something or another! A brick either way.

davidmeredith November 13th, 2008 a 05:05 pm

Reordered and the cashback has validated! :-) When reordering there were different screens than I had seen before (eg choose a delivery date, cost of delivery) and when I phoned up to cancel the first order the lady said it had got 'stuck' at the credit check stage but that the new one had gone through fine. Seemed very efficient, and thanks for the advice ajaymp!

Uberkiwi -- my email order confirmation last night had the paragraph

-----------------------
checking your details
Because you're entering into a contract with Orange we need to check your details before we can set up your account. Your details will be processed within 48 hours and we'll confirm the outcome via e-mail. Remember, we'll need a signature on delivery.
-----------------------

The order I placed today went straight through, and the confirmation email is quite different. Might be worth giving them a call and asking if it is going through, and if not cancelling and reordering...?

tombarry November 13th, 2008 a 04:54 pm

I also got the error taking money out story - emailed them & no reply after 24hrs.

Called them this morning & was advised if I completed transaction on phone it would track from Oronge so I cancelled the order with the intention of reordering online.

Since this morning though I cant order as system keeps telling me I've timed out at checkout.

All seems a bit fishy but maybe I'm just paranoid.

woodleykins November 13th, 2008 a 04:52 pm

I ordered on Monday 11th and then received e-mail saying they were doing creditcheck, which is showing on my Experian file. Sale validated just after that. Have heard nothing since ~ phone was scheduled to arrive today ~ wondering what to do next? Don't want to ring them incase it then doesn't validate.......has anyone received their phone yet??

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 04:50 pm

Damn pressed enter too fast.

At the moment I am validated on Quidco @ £150, have receieved the above email - but havent heard anything else since I got that email on Tuesday evening.

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 04:49 pm

Marko, which email was it? The one starting like this? :-

Hello xxxx ,
Thank you for choosing Orange - we've got your order.
We're running a credit check and we'll let you know the result soon. Until then, your order isn't complete and we will not charge you or process the Direct Debit mandate.

tuku20 November 13th, 2008 a 04:46 pm

My order's just been validated!

kawaljit November 13th, 2008 a 04:31 pm

@ shaunuk
The returns period is only 7 days. I asked them via their online chat thingy, and they confirmed 7 days.

QuidcoCarol November 13th, 2008 a 04:26 pm

Hi everyone, just as clarification to some of the questions that have been raised in these comments, the information we have been given is that if your order tracked at the correct amount but you've been asked to speak to Orange Customer Services, it is because they need more information for the credit check. We've been advised that in these instances, the Quidco cashback will be honoured if the order is completed in this manner, even though it is via telephone, as long as the phone is connected.

Some folks have expressed concern with regard to previous transactions. We would ask members to look at the tracking stats for this merchants, which show 94% tracking successfully. Of the remaining 6% which became earnings enquiries, 87% of those were successful. That means that overall, 99% of the transactions made through Quidco with Orange have been successful. We hope you'll agree that's a very good record! :)

Markro November 13th, 2008 a 04:13 pm

Having just bought a phone from orange, as detailed above, I have already received the confirmation email from Orange AND the deal has tracked at £150. All within 15 minutes or so...I'm in danger of being impressed.

IanSea November 13th, 2008 a 04:08 pm

I wasn't aware that orange were doing a credit check, it must have been pretty instantanious.

Markro November 13th, 2008 a 04:06 pm

My first mobile was a fat Sony Ericsson - can't remember the model number, but we are going back some years now.

The world has changed and all four of the family are now mobiled - in fact I've just updated my daughter's mobile today, buying the Sony Ericsson C902 on the Canary 25 contract via Quidco (of course!).

Bearing in mind that Orange offer an immediate £5 per month discount when you buy a monthly contract online and including the £150 cashback on offer until midnight tonight, effectively I am buying a 24 month contract for 400 minutes, 500 texts and unlimited free calls to other orange numbers, which retails at £25 a month (24 x £25 = £600) for £330! (24 x £20 = £480 - £150 Quidco cashback = £330)

£330 divided by 24 (months) = £13.75

A £25 a month contract for £13.75 ....BEAT THAT!

tuku20 November 13th, 2008 a 04:06 pm

Hi i've just ordered my new contract and got the Order Confirmation page at the end of it all but when i called them up they said there had been an error with the delivery charge and that they wanted to put the whole order through manually. Now i'm waiting for someone to call me back as i'm sure if they put it through themselves it won't track on Quicdo. Here's hoping it's worked.....

Bumface November 13th, 2008 a 03:50 pm

i've cancelled mine

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 03:48 pm

No I havent Kt37uk, its an absolutely shocking service, I have mine booked in for Monday but im betting I dont get it - im considering just cancelling and going elsewhere.

kt37uk November 13th, 2008 a 03:35 pm

Has anybody actually received an order from them yet? I placed mine on 11th and I am sure delivery was set for today but so far only had the order received email that they are checking my credit and nothing else.

ajaymp November 13th, 2008 a 03:20 pm

@davidmeredith

I think you should cancel and reorder.as quidco tracks within 15 minutes for most ppl..

If it has not tracked may be your browser did not accept the cookie for quidco..pls accept thye cookie after you finish ordering and when it gives you orange number..

hope this helps..

My first mobile was a nokia 3210. Great phone which I kept for about 4 years :)

rutherford777 November 13th, 2008 a 03:15 pm

My first phone was a Nokia 3310 :)

Many a school lesson ignored for a game of Snake!!

shaunuk November 13th, 2008 a 03:13 pm

Mine has validated but as yet have not had a confirmation email from them , i trust if the confirmation email with no hitches is recieved after the deadline (midnight) they may not honour the cash back? at least there is the 14 day returns policy to fall back on .

First phone was a Panasonic G350 - looked like a snicker with an aerial!

davidmeredith November 13th, 2008 a 03:03 pm

I also ordered late last night and had an email confirmation of the order but the cashback is not up as having tracked yet.... should I cancel and reorder before the midnight cutoff?

Advice welcome please!

spinme November 13th, 2008 a 02:51 pm

I had an email last night saying the order had gone through but no signs that it's validated
:(
First mobile was a huge BT Cellnet thing.

charly148 November 13th, 2008 a 02:48 pm

good cashback! just seeing which phone i want now. my first phone was a panasonic that was blue! seems like an age ago!

stevenglass November 13th, 2008 a 02:45 pm

On the phone with them now - he's doing it manually so it'll be interesting to see if I loose my £150, which was the only reason I decided to buy this in the first place! We'll see....

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 02:37 pm

How long did the credit check take Ian? Im still waiting for mine to be approved...

IanSea November 13th, 2008 a 02:17 pm

I've had an e-mail confirming my order has been placed, and the delivery fee has been taken from my bank account as well. The £150 cashback has been validated today, I placed the order last night.

dcds4 November 13th, 2008 a 02:04 pm

Mine was a siemens c25, wasnt the ringtone on tht done by pete tong or someone?

thereheis November 13th, 2008 a 01:24 pm

ajaymp November 13th, 2008 a 01:15 pm

Hmm...

So far no one has reported getting confirmation from Orange that they are going ahead with the order !!!

interesting situation...

Ppl update plz ,,,

@stevenglass

Now I understand and am sorry to hear that!!!

Aj

andyboy01 November 13th, 2008 a 12:57 pm

This is what they are telling me, problem with credit check and cant get the 3.99 out of my bank for some reason! Not trying it again, will stick to my old contract i think.

jakepjohnson November 13th, 2008 a 12:48 pm

My first phone was the Nokia 3310. It was the phone that everyone ended up having at my school and it was held in high regard fors its Snake II capabilities and the interchanging covers.

Everyone also changed their operator logo on a regular basis from bluebolt. Good times.

Was actually a really good phone. Lasted me a very long time until it was replaced for just being REALLY old.

The Sony Ericcson K800i I have now is the only one thats really come close to it in the future.

stevenglass November 13th, 2008 a 12:27 pm

Hey AJ - I didn't cancel it, I phoned them and they said it hadn't gone through due to a problem getting the £3.99 delivery payment from my bank. Checked the bank, plenty of money in it, but they didn't attempt to get it out, so I confirmed with Orange that the order wouldn't progress as I wanted to carry out the whole thing on-line ("only applies to transactions completed wholly on-line") in order to be sure of getting the £150!! Tried it again, same problem....Seems to be the same problem KAWALJIT is having...

kawaljit November 13th, 2008 a 12:22 pm

I too got the email to give them a call. Was then told that my credit card had been declined. My orange quidco was validated, however I also cancelled my order, as there is a much less chance of getting the £150, I think.

alisonselby November 13th, 2008 a 12:18 pm

i had the 3210 too, loved snake!

azwebservice November 13th, 2008 a 12:06 pm

Good old Nokia 3210 - classic :o )

ajaymp November 13th, 2008 a 11:58 am

@Stevenglassy,

Am I missing something here??

if it validated at the first instance why did u cancel and then re order???

Sorry abt the credit score ..

Aj

stevenglass November 13th, 2008 a 11:41 am

I've had the same problem. Validated straight away, but e-mailed to contact them. I called and was told they could do it over the phone, but I didn't want to do that in case the £150 was withdrawn. SO, I did it agin. Validated again, another £150, same result. Phoned again, confirmed the order had been cancelled, and DID IT AGAIN..... This time not good. Failed the credit check instantly - obviously because experian are wondering why someone would order 3 contract phones in a day.....

This was for a present, but my contract is up for renewal so was going to get one for myself as well. Unfortunately, my credit score is now shot to pieces so I won't get a phone from anyone, AND the mortgage is up for renewal in Feb!!!!!!!

Way to destroy me Orange lol!

dmcjaguarxj6 November 13th, 2008 a 11:32 am

Mine validated straight away, had an e mail from them to gt in touch, have to wait n see.

My first mobile was about 7 years ago,a freebie from barclay card, a nokia I think, nice little phone in comparison to then.

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 11:22 am

I picked Monday 17th as a delivery date, can anyone clarify how long the credit check takes?

ajaymp November 13th, 2008 a 11:07 am

Anyone has received the handset so far???

PPl who logged in their orders on the 11 th should get standard delivery today...

Pls ler us know..

cheers

Aj

Uberkiwi November 13th, 2008 a 10:41 am

Mine validated on a Samsung soul with minutes, I also got the email stating that the credit check is currently underway - this was on Tuesday evening, havent heard a thing since - im starting to think this isnt going to work...

andyboy01 November 13th, 2008 a 10:26 am

i have tried twice to order over the net, and both times orange have emailed me to tell me it has been cancelled but they do it over the phone. im thinking its not going to work!

bryanlab November 13th, 2008 a 10:10 am

Some sort of candy bar shaped Motorola with sticking out aerial on One 2 One network - for phoning and texting it worked perfectly well!

iqanime November 13th, 2008 a 07:46 am

3310, still works though

Vicious77 November 13th, 2008 a 04:07 am

The underated Nokia 8210. Like carrying around a small breeze block but worth it!

jasmin49 November 13th, 2008 a 03:43 am

I cant remember the model but mine was a black brick with a sticking up ariel, I paid £100 which was a fortune, think mine was an Ericsson.

Hendo9 November 13th, 2008 a 02:02 am

Sony Ericsson C905 is the best phone on there for Orange.

Can get 200 mins and unlimited texts for £20 if wanted on upgrade, with a free phone

cookiefaerie November 13th, 2008 a 01:55 am

I bought my first mobile from a mate for the princely sum of £10 :) It was a Motorola BRICK (well with some of the names they have it could actually pass) -akin to the "Motorola Timeport".

It had the must-have (not) feature of a 1-inch aerial sticking up at the top of it, as was the 'sleek' design that so many older Motorolas suffered from! My younger sister, like all the cool kids, had a Nokia 3210.

Not long after I got it I started to wonder if these mobile thingymajigs were such a good idea as all of a sudden you were pretty much considered always available to the person texting/ringing you. And now people treat them like baby blankets and can't be without them (me included on a part-time basis, I leave it in my bag on silent half the time). Ah well!

Of the Orange choice of phones, the LG KS360 appeals to me as it looks like a good design and it has a QWERTY keyboard. I'm a geek like that. I have a soft spot for the Nokia 6650 Slide Black though.

hybridE4t November 13th, 2008 a 01:06 am

I obviously started late! When I finally moved on from having a pager I got a trusty Nokia 3210, swiftly followed by a 3310 like the rest of the world :) Happy to have an HTC Diamond from Orange now!

Batra November 13th, 2008 a 12:55 am

i jus got myself lg secret at 20 a month for 12 months. effective cost is only £90. lol

davidmeredith November 13th, 2008 a 12:50 am

Philips Cellnet PAYG circa 1998 - 50p per min - ouch! But was still working until recently when I forgot to use it once in every 6 months and the contract expired :-(

njm857 November 12th, 2008 a 11:32 pm

nokia 5110 brick as well!!

karansamtani November 12th, 2008 a 11:27 pm

whenever i place an order it says to contact orange customer service they want to validate details. When i call the customer service representatives say that order was canceled and they need to place new order which will invalidate quidco. Is this some orange trick to scam you into a contract and they invalidate the £150 they have been known to do that be aware of that

dance November 12th, 2008 a 11:13 pm

Had a motorolor flip phone its was the bees nees lol i remember it flashing low battery while it was on the desktop charger........

ahhh them the days

davidadamson November 12th, 2008 a 10:55 pm

My first phone was a Philips Savvy - on Orange amazingly enough.

poc November 12th, 2008 a 10:47 pm

my first phone was the first motorola startac - and was ribbed endlessly by my mates who called it a girls phone because it was so much smaller and lighter than their bricks...

kamranhussain901 November 12th, 2008 a 10:09 pm

the n96 looks promising, but the best phones orange have got are the samsung omnia and n96. both have built in gps and wifi. the omnia hav windows mobile 6.1 on it which is useful if your the business type.

mathewtaylor November 12th, 2008 a 09:54 pm

NO MENTION THAT IT DOESNT COVER BUSINESS TARIFFS WHEN YOU CLICK ON THE QUIDCO LINK TO THE SITE. not impressive.

tobybalcombe November 12th, 2008 a 09:48 pm

my first phone was a nokia 3310!

nitins November 12th, 2008 a 09:45 pm

ChongWarrior November 12th, 2008 a 09:01 pm

Orange validated the £150 within 20 mins of me placing my order.... that's £200 they owe me now. I'm not banking on getting it though tbh.

danasentra November 12th, 2008 a 09:01 pm

nokia 3200... it is still working till now, but don't use it anymore

sidtrix November 12th, 2008 a 08:59 pm

Jack November 12th, 2008 a 08:42 pm

My first phone was a Motorola C520 on Orange. So glad phones have moved on!

mcurtis06178 November 12th, 2008 a 08:38 pm

Mine also was a Motorola and it was huge!! It must have been about 15cm long and was quite narrow. That was back in the days when phones were just phones!! You couldn't even text i think on the phone i had. That was 12 years ago when i was 16!

i was so happy when i was old enough to buy my own. Nowadays i make sure i have the nicest phone i can get my hands on. I'm a phone tart!!! :-)

sebcragg November 12th, 2008 a 08:05 pm

1st phone was a nokia 3210

pinkyandthebrain November 12th, 2008 a 07:44 pm

Hi all, my first phone was a Philips ce16x and i've still got it and ...drum roll...it still works :) Its pretty big but i loved the large number pads and the way it fits you head rather than the mini ones now. The first time i used it, I spoke into the number pad..like a walki-talkie much to my friends very amused fits of laughter!

florrie November 12th, 2008 a 07:09 pm

mine was a motorola about the size of a brick!!

ajaymp November 12th, 2008 a 06:50 pm

Oh the Nokia 5110 brick, what a phone it was...

Well ordered SE 595 and quidco tracked immediately...

Please use internet explorer while ordering as othyer browsers blocj the cookie send by Orange to quidco...

Hope this helps..

justindyson November 12th, 2008 a 06:10 pm

I had a unknown model of phone first before replacing it with the Nokia 5110 on Vodaphone PAYG. Great phone back in 1998 :)

weeksygirl November 12th, 2008 a 05:55 pm

My order has processed straight away , even the first one that had supposedly failed, i was sent a confirmation email, but looks like waste of time. Shame really as the contract is still good, new LG viewty, £20.00 per month 200 mins and unlimited texts, but it doesn't taste so sweet without the little pile of money that would really help with both daughters birthdays and our weddind anniversary in dec before we even get to Christmas !! Lol bad planning I know!!

hmfleming November 12th, 2008 a 05:54 pm

Typical!!!!
I ordered a SE W595 contrat phone on Sat,it arrived this morning and they are now doing £150!!! Should of waited a coupel of days for the extra hundred quid, lol

Hendo9 November 12th, 2008 a 05:28 pm

Really? So i wont get this cashback on the upgrade contract?!

Thats a bit of a joke to be honest, its still a monthly contract as the wording says

mathewtaylor November 12th, 2008 a 05:27 pm

does that mean the new business contract I've just ordered won't track? I'll have to cancel then. Bah!

mathewtaylor November 12th, 2008 a 05:25 pm

where does it say this offer isn't applicable to business orders?

mathewtaylor November 12th, 2008 a 05:23 pm

I put an order in yesterday Tuesday midday but still havent even had an email from Orange - looks like their order processing systems haven't improved since I was last with them. Haven't even had an email confirmation. Any bets on it going thro just after the quidco expires???

weeksygirl November 12th, 2008 a 05:12 pm

Anyone upgraded using this offer and had it validated??

weeksygirl November 12th, 2008 a 05:11 pm

Would be helpful if the wording was clearer then as it is a new contract when you upgrade , but obviously you are still with the same provider. It shouldn't really state "all contracts" Have just ordered one and from what you are saying Quidco my cashback will not be honoured!

kingkoopa82 November 12th, 2008 a 04:44 pm

My old faithful Nokia 3330. Cool, sleek, reliable. I miss her every day...

makepeace November 12th, 2008 a 04:44 pm

i had a 6110i

QuidcoCarol November 12th, 2008 a 04:18 pm

Hi all, in answer to some of the questions asked in this blog, the cashback offer applies to new contracts purchased via the consumer store only. It does not apply to upgrades or purchases made in the business store.

ttruscott November 12th, 2008 a 04:13 pm

i had a Nokia 6210!

charliechocolate November 12th, 2008 a 04:05 pm

My first phone was a huge Motorola used to carry it on my belt in a yellow leather pouch !

Hendo9 November 12th, 2008 a 03:58 pm

Looks very good on there but am wanting to know also if it applies for upgrades on Orange contracts.

The wording "all contracts" means that they should be honoured so I think ill upgrade by Midnight :)

My first ever phone was the old Phillips Savvy haha, shocking but done the job back then

weeksygirl November 12th, 2008 a 03:51 pm

Cancelled yesterdays order as had still not tracked although orange did have it on their system despite failure notice at the time. Am about to order again, but wanted to reiterate "simoness" question
Does anyone know if this applies to upgrades on orange as well?
I reached the end of my 18 month contract and although I could find nothing to say this only applied to new customers, when I rang orange guy I spoke to and his supervisor hadn't even heard of Quidco and thought they were a telecoms sale go between !!

Alliet November 12th, 2008 a 03:38 pm

I had a Motorola with pull up ariel. The damm thing took 4 AA bateries and had to be charged nightly. After that I had a philips Savvy then a nokia 3210, I loved my nokias but currently have a samsung tocco as i didn't like the n96.

kenigma November 12th, 2008 a 02:56 pm

Some old Nokia - can't remember for the life of me what the make was...it makes me cringe now though!

Gwil November 12th, 2008 a 02:45 pm

I ordered the Dolphin 25 contract at 13:00 and it's just tracked and validated at £150, says payment due Jan 2009, fingers crossed!

My first phone was a Nokia 3310, still got it somewhere, they're indestructable!

jockess1 November 12th, 2008 a 02:35 pm

My first phone was a white Alcatel with Virgin. Many years later and loads of phones I still have my same phone number, wonder if that's worth anything?

aarjaygee November 12th, 2008 a 02:34 pm

I had a siemens phone with a bendy antennae that you pulled up which was really a little bit of wire with a nobbly bit on the end.

Great deal from orange though. Just got another contract. Thanks Quidco:-) ??????????

Motorola Microtac from 1992...I've still got it somewhere along with most of my other phones! Have been with Vodafone all that time and have just got my PAC. The future could be Orange.

roninxxx November 12th, 2008 a 01:54 pm

My first Orange phone was a NOKIA 7110 AKA MATRIX phone , also had the WILDFIRE personal assistant service that orange supplied!

vyaskn November 12th, 2008 a 01:48 pm

Don't remember the model number but it used to be called Nokia Brick

Plotter November 12th, 2008 a 01:23 pm

Nokia 3210, how things have changed!!

hermie November 12th, 2008 a 01:13 pm

OMG my first phone was a Motorola flip phone that I got on a really good contract in about 1993 with 02 I think. I thought it was the best thing ever and that I was so cool - the darned thing was huge by today's standards - I sold it at a carboot sale this year for £2! :D

dawnylou November 12th, 2008 a 01:10 pm

First mobile I had was a Motorola M378 I think was the model number. Quite a hefty phone - well compared to the models on the market these days! lol Anyway pretty much the whole family had one as we didn't have a landline!! We had markers on them so we all took the right phone.

I have been looking at an Orange contract but have never been on contract before always Pay as you go. I am a little worried about going over my allowance without realising it and having a hefty bill. Do you get warning texts or anything like that if you are about to do so??

simonhess November 12th, 2008 a 12:39 pm

Does anyone know if this applies to upgrades on orange as well?

salopmommy November 12th, 2008 a 12:35 pm

I placed my order last night for the Samsung Tocco. Quidco says its been tracked so I hope it goes through!!

My first phone was a BT Cellnet thing. Not sure if thats the model though, thats all I remeber about it! It was free when you signed up to the AA, back then I was a bargian hunter too!! Although it is easier to get bargains with the likes of quidco these days!!

tobin99uk November 12th, 2008 a 11:58 am

Order I placed this morning has validated. Anyone else having any difficulties, or had their order status change in any way?

First mobile I had was a Nokia 3210. Moved slowly up through the series before moving onto different manufacturers.

my first was a motorola on bt cellnet like a brick but you could use AA batteries in it if it went flat !!!!!!!!!

weeksygirl November 12th, 2008 a 11:30 am

We have gone for this yesterday afternoon but it has not yet tracked - there was an error on the website when I pressed order, but the order went through. Should I wait and submit an earnings enquiry or cancel and re-order before the offer runs out? Any thoughts please!

lizhughes November 12th, 2008 a 11:07 am

my first mobile was passed down to me from my husband cos he was on a business contract with orange he got a new phone every year it was a nokia 3210. Some great offfers available online with the £150 cashback would be fantastic.

c14re November 12th, 2008 a 11:01 am

the old brick was never mine, hubby was first to go for a mobile!

My first was his hand me down, a sony something or other..I don't care it worked!

beardsley November 12th, 2008 a 10:59 am

The first mobile I owned was a Siemens on One-2-One when it first launched. Standby time was about 4 hours and there was a design fault with the battery clip, so it kept falling off.

However for work on-call I used a "transportable" - size of a briefcase and twice as heavy.

bruff November 12th, 2008 a 10:54 am

Be very careful. I took out a contract with Orange the last time they were offering £150 cashback in July 2008 and they have refused to honour it - and no, they will not let you cancel the contract. I have also had to call them most months to check the bills because they are non-itemised. So far, I have caught them adding £3.50 every month for not having a Direct debit, when I had already set up a DD. They also added another monthly charge for roaming without my consent. When I complained, the customer services guy said that texts had been sent offering 2 months free followed by the charge unless I sent by a "stop" text. I said I had not received the text and he conceded that they were not sure if the texts had actually been sent out so gave me a full refund. I only spotted these "extras" because I have been very careful to not exceed my allowance each month.

adynutza November 12th, 2008 a 10:41 am

Too many people mentioning they havenât seen their cashback from Orange ... anyone from quidco can say something? It would be a good deal ... if honoured... but if it was the same deal months ago and it wasn't honoured than I tink quidco shouldn't advertise it on the first page (if they know that usually it's not honourea) !!

jocscat November 12th, 2008 a 10:22 am

My first phone was a Nokia 3330 - it had Wap so I could surf the net anywhere ... very very very slowly that is. :)

cowlibob November 12th, 2008 a 10:18 am

I started with a black Maxon 3204 on Vodafone. Think I picked it up PAYG at Tescos for £30... Now looking at an iPhone 3G, but this offer certainly turned my head.

tobin99uk November 12th, 2008 a 10:10 am

£150 cashback, new phone and only paying £20 a month for 200mins & unlimited texts - bargain :D

Jibe1978 November 12th, 2008 a 09:47 am

For anyone who has just taken out a new contract and have now found that they could be £150 better off, you have a standard 14 days cooling off period in which you can cancel your contract with no issues. You can then reorder through quidco and get your £150...providing it tracks and validates of course!! Hope this helps.

My first phone was a Nokia 5110, the BIG phone with a Long aeriel. If I try comparing it with my current phone its probably 10 times bigger.

mortondav November 12th, 2008 a 09:07 am

My phone mobile was a motorola brick - used to set off the exit alarms in shops when I went past them.

Question on the Orange £150 - does it include mobile broadband ? also is there a better offer on the broadband than £15 a month for 18 months ? Seems a bit expensive compared to 3 mobile.

ragtime November 12th, 2008 a 08:31 am

Philips Savvy for me too but Hubby had a brick Motorola.

Remember sitting next to the tree at christmas and we rang him while he was sat on the sofa, hilarious!

jerrymartin November 12th, 2008 a 03:18 am

The nokia nk402 from Orange... a rebranded 5110.

stubbyd November 12th, 2008 a 12:45 am

Can't see how they can do £150 cashback especially if I only go with a £15pm contract - essentially I'd get a new phone and a year of use (unlimited texts) for £30 if so ...

Anyway, my first ever phone was a Nokia 101 back in 1992 or 93 with an addon rubber duck aerial instead of the flimsy thing they come with.

CookieMon November 11th, 2008 a 11:58 pm

My first was a big ol Motorola with a front bit on a hinge that you would flip to access the key panel. The pinnacle of technology it was!

warwickroad23 November 11th, 2008 a 11:45 pm

Free cinema tickets would be lovely! :)

My first phone was a Panasonic phone on the old BT Genie network, which was the size of a large brick. Which was great as it had buttons that fit your fingers, I find the buttons on the new, smaller phones far too small and fiddly to use. I still have the phone lying around, saving it for Antiques Roadshow or to show the Grandkids who will no doubt laugh their selves silly at the size of it.

beyne November 11th, 2008 a 11:42 pm

First phone was a Nokia 5110. Seems to be a classic for a 1st.

kt37uk November 11th, 2008 a 11:39 pm

My first phone was a motorola brick phone on whatever Tmobile used to be called. Funnily enough it is still lying in a drawer somewhere (I really need to stop hoarding things). I did this last time round and was refused a phone but the cashback was paid to me for some weirdo reason. Not complaining here.

hlchoo November 11th, 2008 a 11:37 pm

Nokia 7110 was my first ever phone, the one that looks like the phone in Matrix. It was the first to have many new features, among them is WAP, Snake II and dynamic memory for contacts, calendars.

dk143 November 11th, 2008 a 09:46 pm

I had a motorola brick as well! Can't remember the model number but it was big, on orange, with terrible battery life. No predictive text in those days either! Probably about 9 years ago now.

path6336 November 11th, 2008 a 09:45 pm

I was thinking about taking up the eeepc plus mobile broadband offer - but don't know if they would track this as part of this £150 deal?

First phone was a Panasonic G350 - looked like a mars bar with an aerial!
I still use another more recent Panasonic every day.

fillstocks November 11th, 2008 a 09:39 pm

IT was a philips phone for CPW - with some deal meaning they'd take it back after a few months without having to pay the rest of the contract ... .oh the good old days!

TrappistMonk November 11th, 2008 a 09:34 pm

My first phone was a Philips Diga with a fake slide operation. The screen was about a centimetre square. It was on Orange and I got 5 minutes of off peak calls free. Looking back it ws awful but quite hi-tech back in the old days.

weegi1985 November 11th, 2008 a 09:27 pm

My 1st mobile was a Motorola a.k.a. Brick! But at the time, I was one of the first people who got a mobile phone in high school, and I thought I was the bee's knee's! It was on the Orange network, PAYG, and cost about £50. Problem was, none of my friends had a mobile, so I had no one to text! XD I think texts costs about 50p back then!

maemaesmummy November 11th, 2008 a 09:25 pm

Mine was a Nokia but cannot remember which one.... but it was huge

rogerj November 11th, 2008 a 09:17 pm

First had a Motorola M301 on Mercury one 2 one as a student in 1994. Free calls in London off peak which was unheard of in those days. The best tariff for a Londoner back then in my view. I *think* there are a very few people still on that tariff today although T-mobile have done their best to change the plan enough to make most of them change....

Nokia nk702 on Orange - totally reliable, no fuss. They don't build them like they used to...

nimishshah November 11th, 2008 a 07:35 pm

I had a Motorola phone on the Mercury 1-2-1 network. If anyone still remembers them, they were big grey âbricksâ with flips and an aerial that pulled right off!
Mercury 121 biggest selling point was the fact they had Free evening (7pm-7am) and weekend calls completely free to local and surrounding areas landlines. At the time anyone living in London thought this was a dream come true as they could sit around all night/weekend chatting to their friends and loved ones for absolutely free. This made 121 an overnight success in London and I still remember most of my friends (all students at the time) all being on this network.

But Mercury 121 success was also its downfall. Too many people had subscribed to their network (oversubscription) and for such a new network, they didnât have the infrastructure to support it. So what happened was people were joining all the time and the quality of the network service suffered with all these people making free calls. Calls sounded distorted, they would cut off and as for their customer service it was near enough non-existent.

I was living in Spain in the early 90s. I think our first phone was an Alcatel or something like that - it was a huge brick with a massive aerial, certainly did not fit in your pocket, and took two of us to carry it!

franglo November 11th, 2008 a 06:19 pm

My first phone was a Philips Savvy with Virgin Mobile. You could only read one line of text at a time due to the tiny screen and the phone was really heavy! I stuck stickers on the back to try and make it look prettier. Didn't really work though. My second phone was a Nokia 7250i with Orange Mobile and I've had it ever since. (Yes, that phone came out years ago.) If it ain't broke, don't fix it! ;-)

Mine was an O2 brick before O2 began (can't remember what o2 was before or the make) . I used to weight lift with it in my bag. You wanna see my muscles from carrying that brick :) but was so useful when my front tyre burst! Then I went upmarket to a sagem- never again!

Am gutted about the £150 cashback though, as have only just taken out a new orange contract (Friday last week)!!!!!!!!

(cries over her keyboard)

lkingwood November 11th, 2008 a 04:43 pm

My first mobile was a MERCURY!!!! Very big, very heavy, funny aerial, and had no reception!!! I was gutted it had to go back! This is a great deal!!

sueh20 November 11th, 2008 a 04:37 pm

My first mobile phone was a Phillips C12, similar to the Savvy. It was very sturdy and quite large but kept on working and working! I could make calls, receive calls and text....WOW. I only changed it because I had to.... 02 stopped supporting the C12 , so I had no option but to get a new phone and I got a Motorola Clam phone, it did not last any where near as long as the C12. I now have another Motorola.

windhoek November 11th, 2008 a 04:29 pm

my first phome was a Sagem something - it had no real functionality except calls and texting, but I'm pleased to say things have got better - I now own a SEK800i.

Charla November 11th, 2008 a 04:27 pm

Hey amc262 you probably didnt get the £50 as Orange only pay £5 on PAYG and not £50.

mutsnuts November 11th, 2008 a 04:20 pm

Not sure of the model of my first mobile which i had in about 1995 but it was a Motorola and it was massive with a big ariel on the top, it didnt even fit in a coat pocket, if you wanted to take it anywhere you needed a bag lol

amc262 November 11th, 2008 a 04:19 pm

My first ever mobile phone was the strong and sturdy Nokia 3310. It was a really nice piece although a bit on the heavier side. I bough the 6500 lside on PAYG from Orange but they failed to honour the £50 cashback offered so I highly doubt theyâll honour £150! Yet my best wishes and good luck to potential buyers.

repoman88 November 11th, 2008 a 04:12 pm

miffyl November 11th, 2008 a 03:54 pm

I've been trying to remember what is was for ages now. It was about 1995 and I think was a Mitsubishi T9 although I can't find anything on the web about it. I changed it after a year to a T11.

Quidco, the Orange page says £20 for PAYM SIM cards - for spending £1 on a SIM, are you sure!! Should it be 20p?

katiepiatt November 11th, 2008 a 03:53 pm

A hand-me-down Nokia 8210 I think. The kids have it as a toy now.

Does this offer apply to phones via the Orange business shop? The phone I want isn't offered on their consumer shop.

Smiffdogg November 11th, 2008 a 03:27 pm

I ordered this offer last time it ran in July - i had no problems at all, the order tracked in no time and i was paid the £150.

Glad its back again so i can get a great xmas present for my Brother while im a bit skint and get £150 back to cover most of the contract :-) . Ordered it this morning (Nokia 6301 on the £15 plan) and its tracked fine, "Validated £150"

I guess just the few that didnt track last time posting, as a few friends got it last July when i told them about the deal, as far as i know those worked fine... or they would have been moaning at me by now!

So i'd say go for it, i cant see a better offer around! Cheers Quidco and Orange!

p.s. my first phone was a Nokia 6150... absolute beast but it had snake :)

My first phone was a big massive brick lol, it was an Ericsson which we got to take camping with us. When we got to the site we didnt even have a signal so couldnt use it.......typical hahaha

scarru13 November 11th, 2008 a 02:27 pm

My first phone was a nokis 3210 i think.. u cud change the case on it. How cool did i think i was?!?! lol!

dunochry23 November 11th, 2008 a 02:17 pm

My first mobile was a couple of tin cans tied together with a piece of string-still working well!!
Didn't see any on offer on Orange site though!

mazzy7 November 11th, 2008 a 02:12 pm

my first mobile was phillips savvy, it was big and heavy.

NORWOOD November 11th, 2008 a 02:10 pm

First phone was an Ericsson - the one with those 'trendy' clip on multicoloured fronts (that fitted over/around the numbers) which never saw the light of day!

corleone83 November 11th, 2008 a 02:08 pm

I had my first phone when I was 16 (in 1998) It was Ericsson GA628 it was one of the thickest in the world, one line screen not even a clock function in it. I was teased a lot as it was shown to stop the cars when places under the tyres :P In 1999 some of big derby games it was restricted to enter the stadiums with it as referees sufferred a lot guess why :) :) (in Turkey ) hhehehe

nessran22 November 11th, 2008 a 02:04 pm

This is similar to the offer in July. We were told that it would take a few month to track and it was show as £90 not £150, but not to worry. I query this 12 weeks later to be closed the time for raising a query was no closed, however, Quidco have re-opened this for me. It's now November 11th and i still haven't received or heard anything back. I would still go for this if you are ready to apply for a new contact anywhere, after all you actually have nothing to lose.

RichardLister November 11th, 2008 a 02:00 pm

Yes, a lot of people mentioning they haven't seen their cashback from Orange, looks like they entice you into a nice new contract with a nice new phone, JIT4C (Just In Time for Christmas, I might add), with the promise of £150 cashback. Then you figure out you're locked into a 18mnth contract with no sight of and cashback, and I doubt you can cancel your contract due to lack of cashback, ooooooooh very well done Orange ;)

markandrewjolly November 11th, 2008 a 01:45 pm

Nokia 3210!

jamesolivercart November 11th, 2008 a 01:42 pm

I had a phone once, it was a fully customisable Ericsson; as in you could change the coloured ring around the arial and the background colour on the keypad. I fell in a river when I went fishing and it was in my pocket so no more phone...£150 very tastey indeed, I'm off to catch a deal - get it...

yippeekiay November 11th, 2008 a 01:31 pm

BTW, am I seeing things or have the clocks moved an hour forward as the forum states I posted my last message in an hours time...lol???

Quidco...set your clocks properly...lol

yippeekiay November 11th, 2008 a 01:29 pm

mmm...looks a good offer but I'm far too wary that it might not track going by other comments and I can find way better offers should it fail to track.

Very tempting but not worth the risk as £150 is no small amount.

Thanks anyway.

Oh, my first phone was the first Motorola Flip and I loved it as I was the only person with a mobile that I knew so I looked cool - so I thought - even though it looked like I had a giant cockroach stuck to my ear...lol

flyingflea November 11th, 2008 a 01:28 pm

First phone was a Sony J5, loved it!!

darrengoucher November 11th, 2008 a 01:26 pm

Ericsson T18 with handy to break external arial that lasted a few months!

Gonna have to talk to the other half about taking up this offer, if i can convince her not to go for the iPhone!

detailista November 11th, 2008 a 01:25 pm

oops sorry, new to all this, pressed submit comment too many times- can someone remove the repeated posts please? sorry for leaving things untidy!

deadleg21 November 11th, 2008 a 01:24 pm

Still using my first phone - Sony Erricsson k800i
Its a Beaut!

detailista November 11th, 2008 a 01:23 pm

Hi, thank you so much for another great offer - just ordered a samsung something or other (not very technical minded so already forgotten the model, but great to find it on £15 per month contract as I've been using an old samsung for a while and just love the interface, more intuitive than my last three nokias.

My first phone was a phillips savvy i think, the display only showed two lines of large print text, but the biorythm calculator amused me far more than it should have.

My daughter is frequently ill so I have been waiting to move to orange for ages for the good customer service we experienced with her pay as you go phone.

thanks again Quidco and Orange!

Ricinus November 11th, 2008 a 01:22 pm

My first and ONLY is a Sony T630 given to me by a friend.

Szetela November 11th, 2008 a 01:12 pm

Erricson with a little flap covering keys - it was very good phone!

jj7878 November 11th, 2008 a 01:10 pm

FIRST ONE IS NOKIA 7360 ON ORANGE.

mlb194 November 11th, 2008 a 01:08 pm

mine was an Alcatel phone I had while on Uni placement in spain in 98.

ejmdkb November 11th, 2008 a 01:08 pm

Mine was an ericsson one with a funny shaped ariel, clear buttons and one line of scrolling text for its display - i remember when i set up my handset for the first text i sent and received, it was ground breaking stuff!

Looking back though, my handset was pretty nifty for its time :o )

kill4it November 11th, 2008 a 01:06 pm

It was the nokia brick that everyone seemed to have, first one that I still remember the number for was the nokia 3210, can't even think how many mobiles I must have owned by now!!

pauldbrown November 11th, 2008 a 01:03 pm

My first phone was the Nokia 5110 on Orange, it was a big step up from a pager. At the time SMS was cutting edge! Before that I remember my dad had one of those huge grey Motorola things, like out of Beverly Hills 90210! Hoping to win these tickets as I want to see Burn After Reading. Going to let my brother know about this 150 deal. The new HTC with the 5 megaspixel camera will be right up his street.

Cheers

davebennett01 November 11th, 2008 a 01:00 pm

..or was it just an ericon?? It was 15 years ago whatever it was

SewerSide November 11th, 2008 a 12:57 pm

My first phone was a Nokia 3510, on O2. Not great coverage in Bristol!

davebennett01 November 11th, 2008 a 12:57 pm

sony ericsson k something ??

Marylamb72 November 11th, 2008 a 12:56 pm

My first phone was an analogue thing way back in 93 - had an aerial at that was the best thing about it!!!! Was huge and weighed a ton!

November 11th, 2008 a 12:56 pm

I really cant remember what make it was, my parents bought me it from a supermarket and it was a brick (in 98 around that time) and analogue aswell..... no picture messages or texting back then lol.

Glad to say Ive moved on from the dark ages... just about lol.

mitchja November 11th, 2008 a 12:55 pm

Mine was also a PAYG Motorola handset (can't remember which one though) on Cellnet (which I think is now O2?)

xpander November 11th, 2008 a 12:53 pm

First phone I ever had was the Phillips Savvy. The thing was indestructible - not even a tank could dent it!

rickkky November 11th, 2008 a 12:48 pm

Mine was a Motorola Thing, with pull up Ariel, but not as bad a a brick, it would just fit in my pocket... oh them were the days when they were new and it was a novelty to ring some one who was sat across the other side of the canteen because you, could! or when a vibration made you smile as it was all so new. Now i wish the dam thing would not beep at me with phone calls, sms, email, diary requests or low battery... Grrr.... that its im putting my ring tone back to "round the twist" or the "West Wing" theme tune, sod the work etiquette!

Discogod November 11th, 2008 a 12:47 pm

wow my word - my first phone was something done by BT Cellnet, it was a huge monster!

mteen24 November 11th, 2008 a 12:47 pm

Seimens C25 - the one with the funky ringtones.....classic

sharonlauder November 11th, 2008 a 12:45 pm

was needing a new phone so really hope the 150 quid cashback is honoured - the deals are good too, I've gone for 200 mins + unlimited texts for 20 quid a month which is 15 quid cheaper than I'm currently paying!

My first mobile was a company mobile in 1996 - a Nokia brick with the pull up aerial and buttons even the fattest of fingers could use easily. I knew nothing about texting then but am a serial texter now.

rthak November 11th, 2008 a 12:39 pm

Nokia 3210!

mikehoe November 11th, 2008 a 12:35 pm

Ericsson t20e
Flipping fun

delboyuk November 11th, 2008 a 12:35 pm

My first mobile was a Nokia, but i hated it - not the phone itself, but the fact that it was company issued, which meant they could easily contact me whilst i was down the pub at lunchtime !!

bassj18 November 11th, 2008 a 12:34 pm

my first moblie was nokia black and white one can't what phone it was snakes on it!

cpjackso November 11th, 2008 a 12:33 pm

rbuckley79 November 11th, 2008 a 12:29 pm

My first mobile was the Nokia 5110. A bit of a brick but very easy to use.

Jiffy November 11th, 2008 a 12:29 pm

My first phone was an Ericsson (not a Sony Ericsson!) R380 smart phone.

jojo1234 November 11th, 2008 a 12:26 pm

My first phone was a nokia not at all swish like the ones now i thought it was great because it had the snake game on it

sgould November 11th, 2008 a 12:26 pm

I used to have a motorola flip phone. It was a bit of a brick but worked well and had an extendable aeral.
My Dad had one of those car battery type phones. Couldnt complain about the weight as he could pick up a UK phone signal in the north of France.

chuichi November 11th, 2008 a 12:25 pm

My first mobile was a Nokia 3210!
Ever since that, I've not gone back to using a Nokia...

paulevr November 11th, 2008 a 12:25 pm

My first was a nokia, pale blue and that annoying ringtone made famous by C4's Trigger Happy.

Charla November 11th, 2008 a 12:24 pm

My first phone was a Motorola M301 and it had a huge aerial!!! I recieved the £150 cashback the last time this was running so would be great to win some cinema tickets though.

simon31leeds November 11th, 2008 a 12:21 pm

Nice looking Nokia 6500 - loving the sleek lines on that. My first phone was a Motorola brick - literally it weighed the same amount as one of those black bricks they used to throw down to the bottom of the swimming pool for you to retrieve for your silver lifesaver award and had about the same functionality. 10 years pass and now we're onto phones with technology that would've looked space age at the time.
