Everything bought has tracked, although there seems a little confusion in the shop if online orders to be picked up are honoured - so they always put it through as just bought in the shop.
Discount in a good shop, just by using your card, and getting the goods there and then has to be better than online, so it hardly matters about the sluggish payout.

Use local Halfords regularly for car/caravan bits and pieces (bulbs, oil, wiper blades, cleaners etc.). Reasonable product selection and their own brand product prices & quality do provided a value proposition. Prices are on a par with other etailers, their we-fit service is worthwhile especially if the item you need replacing is tricky to access. In-store cashback is a nice feature. Has always tracked quickly and accurately for me for all purchases. Takes a while to get the cashback through though and at 2% is not a huge cashback ... but if you pay by cashback or points credit card (and do not run a interest paying balance) then it all adds up.

So, I purchased something in october, and now in april I am still waiting :\ ? I'd like to see it before it's october again!? Seriously through, looking at reviews they "do" pay, but they just take ages so if you plan to use these, don't expect the cashback any time soon.

I wasn't sure if the instore cashback would work but it tracked quickly, the staff where very helpful as I needed assistance in locating the correct items for my model of car and the payment took just weeks, impressed, we just need more retailers to sign up !

Halfords Redditch have looked after my daughter's car for a year now - we know we can go to them with all the little problems that come with an 11-year old car. They are reliable, quick, friendly and good value for money.

I don't know why I bother shopping in Halfords. Its such a miserable experience. Th estaff just can't be bothered with helping you and seem to just stand around chatting to each other. Cash backs take a long time to appear.

The only real benefit of Halfords is that they tend to be one of the most accessible given the number of stores they have. Service is very hit or miss depending on the store and staff you access.
Payment speed seems to be the best part of a year, I don't tend to buy too much from them as their range is not generally to my liking, but things I could buy from them I try not to where possible given I can get my payback from other companies in 2-3 months or less, why would anyone bother with a company that takes several times that. There are several other companies, especially if you're buying online, so save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere.

Used to top up a diesel 2005 Mercedes engine after a long run, no issues whatsoever, the oil fitted my budget and I would use again. At the time of purchase December 2012 I noticed a half price offer on the 5L sizes, but you had to buy 10L to get it so maybe worth calling Halfords and asking when the next offers on oil are.
Speedy, and didn't even know I'd done it!

My Halfords purchase was made with a registered card, and I'd completely forgotten about the in-store scheme, so this was an extra little bonus.
Halfords isn't generally the cheapest but in this case they were easy to get to and great value for money.

never go to this shop ever.. you will regret it and be overcharged. Go to euro car parts instead. There staff have just left school and dont have knowledge to give on cars.

I purchased a £1000 boardman pro mountain bike, reserved online, went to pick it up a day or so later when requested. "Its not ready, come back in an hour.". Rang before returning, "yes its ready", arrived in store, "well build that for you now" ... waited around the store for 45 mins .... signed all of the paper work, removed the packaging and the "mechanic" had obviously tightened the bike stand too much and crushed the frame ! After arguing that it needed to be replaced ... and waiting another 45 mins I rode out on my new bike ... changed gear .... and the chain fell off ! The Bike is amazing now i've set it up right and the Boardman kit is great value for money. Its just a shame you have to go through halfords and the poor excuse for service and standard to get it. Avoid if you can, and go to a proper bike shop. Oh and this was in August - 6 months ago and the cash back is now only finally confirmed.

Went in store to buy a Roof Box. Customer Assistant was very friendly and knowledgeable about the products available. Bought it at a time when there was 60% off the particular model so I got an amazing deal. In addition the Customer Assistant got a trolley to get the roof box to the car, waited while I paid, took the box to the car and then helped me get it into the car. This was a bulky item and I would have struggled on my own so I was very appreciative of the help. My experience in the Halfords store was first rate.
I paid using a card that was registered with Quidco and 4 working days later the transaction was tracked on my Quidco activity. Not super speedy but acceptable.
The downside is that it has taken 5 months for the cashback to be confirmed which is a really long time as far as I am concerned. I think more work needs to be done in getting these transactions confirmed much much quicker.

I buy quite a lot of stuff from Halfords, so the in-store cashback is very welcome. However, the cashback confirmation for my bike purchase took *six months*, which seems a bit excessive... still, to be fair, they paid it in the endwhich meant my bike was an excellent deal.

I use Halfords a fair bit and have had a few in-store cashbacks over the last year or so. Tracking is ok but it takes around 6 months to get the cash. Can't really complain, but could be a bit quicker to get a better review.

Nothing drastically wrong with the service in store, but nothing spectacular either.
I sometimes doubt the technical advice given by the staff, and they could be a bit more efficient at the till (i.e. server others whilst the previous customer waits for something to be brought out from the store room etc)

Halfords are very slow to pay, they usually track in-store purchases within a couple of days, but seem to take 8 months to pay and my cashback amounts are usually less than a pound (since I never purchase anything large/expensive there). If it weren't for the fact that it tracks automatically from my card number I wouldn't even bother.

I was just about to submit an absolutely raving review of my recent very excellent experience in my local store when I realised that this review was actually for the transaction I had SIX MONTHS ago. The fact is, its taken so long to finalize that transaction, that I have no recollection of it whatsoever.
What on earth makes it take 6 months to pay such a small amount?

It took couple of month for the cashback, and i had forgot about it completely until i received. Its not worth going throught quidco if you going to take couple of month with modern day technology. I can maybe understand a month but couple of month is something in the past now, the world is advancing fast, this retailer needs to move on with time.

To be honest I cannot remember what I actually bought in Halfords. However, as it's a convenient stop for car parts and bicycle parts, having a cash back option via 'in-store' is a nice bonus.
Plenty of decent value bicycle parts available at the store. If they are not, the staff have always been able to arrange delivery for the next couple of days. Very friendly staff in the bicycle section.

Just received cashback on a booster seat we bought in February. Took 8 months get in-store cashback paid. Not very good for such a large company.

Bought the service plan, 2 adult bikes and 2 kids bikes, good value at £30. Guys instore were good and knowledgable and did not try to replace everything on bike to make extra sales.
The one minor negative was that the crank came loose as it had not been tightened and wiped of grease properly - no biggy though.
Prefer to go to independents normally but pleasantly surprised.

Halfords, although around at most local areas are really the highest priced places about. I only use on the odd occasion when I need something they have and I don't have time to go elsewhere.

It was only for buying wiper blades in store during the last winter, but now its the next winter (October) when it finally paid! Probably not worth it unless you're planning on buying and its a small purchase.

As title suggests tracked in March and not paid until October, far too slow in my opinion for such a trivial cashback amount of £1!!!!! I think the overall speed from tracking to payment needs to be looked at.

Perhaps like many who are feeling the pinch, I've gone back to doing some of my own repairs and servicing on the family car and my motor cycle.
Halfords have a pretty good range of tools, parts and consumables (filters, fluids, etc.) and the pricing is reasonable. Yes, you can find things cheaper on eBay but sometimes you can't wait days for postal delivery.
As an added bonus, the Quidco in-store cashback is nice to have ;-)

Staff instore are always friendly and polite.
Cashback takes rather a long time to be paid however I have never had a claim declined.

Just yesterday have I had my purchases with Halfords from Feb '12 to end-march'12 updated to confirmed. They seem to track very quickly (normally within days) but seem true to the '8 months' payment window - whether it's within the 8 months though is another matter :-)
So, my doubts about whether the cashback will ever confirm have been laid to rest.

Halfords have an in-store Quidco arrangement. Register your credit/debit card on Quidco, spend in-store and hey-presto it gets tracked. It's a bit slow to track and even slower to pay out. It took over 8 months to get paid, but for a few pence I can't really grumble too much!

Excellent experience. Had the online price which was £100 cheaper without having to have it delivered. It was assembled in store and I picked it up the next day. Excellent all round!!

If Halfords like the additional advertising and competitive incentive that Quidco brings; surely a cashback of less than 6-8 months should be expected.
Do not include this cashback in your price calculations!

I now have 4 transaction that have been tracked but no payment received. What is the point of offering cashback on instore purchases if the payments do not follow. If this keeps occuring quidco should remove them from this site. Lets hope it gets sorted as it would be great to get cashback from Halfords as apposed to dissapointment.

I've had a tracked payment outstanding since January (8 months). It was tracked very quickly, but has just been sat there ever since. I've bought from Halfords for many years, but certainly won't be counting on their cashback again.

I have been waiting for Halfords to confirm my purchase since May 2012. It was an in store purchased and was tracked immediately but since then its just hung there waiting for Halfords to confirm the purchase. Another retailer who offers a good cash back amount only to sit on MY money for month after month.
What a waste of time - wont be shopping with them again
