Purchased car insurance on 29 September 2012 and still waiting for cashback almost 6 months later. Hope that if I ever need to make a claim that they work much quicker. Not impressed.

Competitive prices means they are always a contender. Never had to claim or use any aspect of their customer service so can't comment on that.
Payment speed is pretty poor, payment is never made within the 4 months and I always have to chase it up with Quidco (Used them 3 times now and same each time). Strangely payment is usually made soon after I contact them about the delay??
Give them a go but don't expect a speedy payment.

I have bought car insurance through Hastings Direct 3 times in the last 5 years due to their competitive pricing and usually decent cashback offers though I never renew my policy with them as renewals don't qualify for cashback. Navigating their website and buying the insurance was straightforward enough and took around 20 minutes. I have never had an accident while with them so I can't comment on the quality of their claims service. I can comment on the speed of the cashback payment though which tracked quickly each time and took 4 months from purchase date to the cashback being paid into my account which is pretty reasonable and in line with the T&Cs quoted by quidco as the fastest they will pay out anyway as the policy has to be in effect for 3 months before it will be confirmed.
It's a joke to call this "Faster Paying"

No problem with the product or cashback amount, I don't even mind it took so long for the payment to be made but it is frustrating that this is advertised as a "faster Paying" retailer when it's clearly not, it took nearly 6 months for the payment to be made I'm happy to wait just wish it did claim to be something it's not!

I purchased this in Nov 12 and although it tracked fairly quickly, I have yet to receive any payment for this transaction.
Faster paying? What a joke! Be very aware of using this company! Very disappointed!! :-(

I purchased an insurance policy in June 2012 and did not receive cashback for over eight months. Whilst Quidco always replied immediately to my chasing emails, Hastings Direct never replied. I will not renew my policy with them again.

didn't track, took 4 months to resolve and didn't even pay out in the end. Apparently commission was 'paid elsewhere' but i only use quidco for my insurance comparisons and always clear all cookies before any purchase so i know it's a bluff.

bought car insurance in Nov. 2012, replied 3 weeks later asking some more information and then increased the premium plus administration fees, too late to cancel the policy and had to stick to it. Three months on still waiting for cashback, won't recommend to anybody.

Purchased Car Insurance around July time. Waited for a couple of months only to find that it was declined. Reason, because we had not cleared out our cookies before making a purchase. What a pathetic excuse!! We have never cleared out our cookies before making a purchase through Quidco & never had anything declined. It is clear to me that this is a tactic of Hastings Direct to break their promise of cashback. Yet Quidco still allow them to use the site. Unbelievable. Now they have the cheek of claiming they are now faster paying.
ONLY USE THEM IF THE INSURANCE IS THE CHEAPEST ANYWAY & VIEW THE CASHBACK AS A BONUS BECAUSE YOU PROBABLY WONT GET IT.

Took my car insurance out with hastings as these were the cheapest. Having had a non-fault claim with them they were "ok" although usually a good 40 minutes to get through on the phone. 0844 number to (tip: use saynoto0870 and use your free minutes!) Car was repaired and back with me in a month and they used approved repairer Nationwide repairs.
Cashback took 5 months to payout, even though they are labelled fast payers. Quidco need to define what they class as a fast payer - how many months to pay out?, as i have had other companies pay out sooner that are not labelled fast payers.

Cheapest car insurance quote by about £50 plus it came with £50 cashback. I was a bit worried by the negative reviews and thought I may never actually get the cashback. I purchased it on the 26th September, was tracked immediatly and finally got my cash on the 24th January. I'd recommend them.

I have purchased car insurance for both my wife and myself from Hastings and both have been great value especially with the cashback which was paid relatively promptly.
I unfortunately had the opportunity to make a claim on my insurance and I was very impressed with the way it was all sorted.
I would highly recommend this company.

The car insurance we took out was cheap when compared to others, especially when you factor in the cashback. However, the cashback took nearly 7 months to pay out - don't use if you're relying on the cashback in a hurry.

Good quote and received email voucher for free MOT. Had to send copies of ID documents which I've never had to do with previous insurers. Not faster paying! Bought the policy in July, cashback paid today, 5 months later.

The only complaint I have is that the retailer shows as Faster Paying, but it took 3 1/2 months to get the cashback. I have had cashback quicker from retailers that didn't say Faster Paying.

Great insurance policy, very competative and no problems at all with them. Does state that they are a fast payer of cashback, I took out policy in June and still had not had cashback confirmed. It was only after Quidco investigated that it suddenly appeared! just remember, if you havent heard from them contact Quidco, who were very helpful & efficient. Thank you Quidco.

I switched from my pervious insurer because Hastings with cashback was a good deal cheaper. I've had no problems with the service, everything policy wise is managed online nice and easy.
Only downside is cashback payment takes along time! But on the otherhand they did pay out and I'm in no rush to receive it.

Bought a policy off the back of the cashback. 8 months down the line i'm still waiting with no end in sight. Have to advise you to avoid this if you are looking for cashback! - you never know it may materialize, but i've lost total confidence.
UPDATE: 9 months & the cashback has confirmed for payment..! Credit where it is due, they came through. Hastings please note: Pay faster for customer goodwill!!

I'm still waiting for cash-back from Hastings. After reading other reviews it hardly seems worth pursuing - it's not likely to get me anywhere. Quidco should be taking this shoddy service up with them , on behalf of all their customers who trusted them.
I won't be buying insurance from Hastings again.

Details of the payment speed changes all the time, when I used this supplier, cashback was within 6 months of tracking, tracking then changed by 3 months, and now with faster payment negotiations by Quidco, payment now takes in excess of 8 months, my understanding of faster payments appears different to Quidco and this company, 7 months in and still awaiting payment of cashback, which has also decreased from original offer so will see what I get paid if and when they get sorted

Bought my car insurance in March 2012, fairly good quote but the cashback twisted my arm to purchase this product, paperwork rec'd via email and any correspondence with them was ok - on checking my quidco account my cashback of £50.00 was declined early Sept 2012 I've since raised a claim as advised by Quidco and am still waiting for my cashback - I won't be renewing my insurance with Hastings at renewal time and wouldn't recommend them to friends or family based on this experience

The price for the car insurance was competative so the cashback was a bonus but I feel very disappointed that they have declined my cashback.
I made a genuine purchase and feel that Hastings are not keeping to their part of the agreement. I won't be using them again.
I bought car insurance from Hastings Direct in May 2012 via Quidco, my purchase tracked ok and £41 cashback was correctly added to my Quidco activity. Hastings declined this in September 2012 and I raised a query via Quidco. Hastings again declined.

Tried twice to submit details and each time it asked me to call Hastings where they couldn't give me the cash back, so will end up costing me more so not best pleased. Got the cashback ok last year though so good if you are not a customer already.
