Cashback Declined

Hired a car for use in Florida in November 2018. CashBack was advertised at 12% which is pretty good. Avis Car hire process, website, service and car were excellent. However, 5 months after purchase my CashBack has now been declined with no reason given. I have requested a review and will report back when the result of that is available. 12% CashBack is considerable and can be a deciding factor when deciding on a high value purchase. Should be more transparency/certainty around CashBack at that level.

Avis car hire

Joined Quidco after a recommendation. My second purchase was car hire with Avis which has been declined as cashback (approx. £44.00). Hopefully I will be able to return to this review and write a complementary article of the whole process - currently though that is not the case. As for Avis, they were great. the online booking was easy. Collecting the car in Houston Texas was simplicity, drop off too was hassle free - which is exactly what you want before catching a 12 hour flight home, just need whoever to sort out the payment.

Let down

Avis cars and service is good...can't fault it...however, most of my cashback has been declined. At one point, two cars were booked at the same time...one lot of cashback has already been declined, and the second is still 'being tracked' despite it now being over 2 months. Disputing this with Quidco, it appears all the declines are due to discounts being applied by Avis at the time of booking, which nullifys Quidco payments as the retailer has no obligation to pay the commission. It appears, that when I log in on Avis' website to book a car, a 'promotional rate' is applied, which is invariably considerably lower than the cashback which would be applied. In one example, an average size car for a week, would earn c.£20 cashback through Quidco, but by being registered with Avis, a 'promotional rate' of c.£11 less than advertised price is applied. Therefore no cashback is applicable. What a con!! Have since switched to Europcar....just as good a range and vastly cheaper.
