Festival Fashion Trends for 2018
Dance from dusk till dawn in the trendiest clothes
If you’ve bagged tickets to a festival or two this year then you may already be planning your outfits. Festival fashion is much more fun than an every day wardrobe as you can experiment more with your usual style and wear some pieces that you wouldn’t ordinarily go for in your day-to-day look (unless, of course, a floral head crown is an everyday accessory for you. If it is – slay girl, slay)
Thanks to iconic celebs such as Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, we’ve had plenty of festival inspiration over the years, from that glittery mini dress to those hunter wellies; they’ve paved the way for festival fashion since the early 2000’s.
Now festival fashion continues to grow with new trends and styles emerging each year. We’ve got 5 key trends that you should be rocking this year and some items that we’ll be adding to our shopping bag ASAP. And, the best part is you can earn some cashback on all of these festival outfits when you shop for them through Quidco.
What to wear to a festival
1. Western Styling
It’s time to say “Yee-Haw!” to the western style that’s set to dominate at festivals this year. Give a nod to this trend with a pair of boots that have a western vibe, such as these beauties from Daniel Footwear, which would look great paired with your usual denim shorts. Or if you’d prefer to go for a more subtle approach to this trend, why not swap your usual backpack for this amazing fringed backpack from Miss Selfridge?
Crochet is making the rounds again this festival season but this time it’s been given an upgrade with bolder, brighter designs. This gorgeous number from Free People screams festival chic and can be layered up or worn as a dress with a slip underneath.
If the weather forecast isn’t looking too great then you can still jump on board with this trend by rockin’ a crochet top such as this one from Topshop, that can be worn with jeans or shorts.
Move over pink, yellow is the colour to be seen wearing in 2018. Your reliable denim, summer dresses and tailored trousers have been brightened up in magnificent shades of sunshine yellow for 2018. If you’re guilty of a near all-black wardrobe (*raises hand*) then getting on board with this trend might be daunting, to say the least.
Fancy being a bit more daring? Try a pair of yellow denim jeans for those unavoidable festival days that are a bit cooler. This pair from Urban Outfitters come in a lovely shade of yellow and would look great with a white top.
It’s always a good idea to take something rain proof with you to a festival, especially if it’s here in the UK (we all know what a British summer looks like) so keep yourself dry with a super cute yellow rain mac such as this one from Matalan. Practical and on-trend fashion is our favourite!
Co-ords make outfit planning really quick and easy. They’re also a lot more practical for festivals than a classic jumpsuit or playsuit as don’t have to get completely naked when nature calls (which is bad enough in an ordinary toilet, never mind a portaloo or the dreaded long drop!)
No longer reserved just for Christmas, sequins are going to be big this year in festival fields around the globe. Pretty Little Thing has released a wonderful, sparkly collection of tops in just about every shade you can imagine. Channel mermaid vibes in this halter neck blue and green sequin top from Pretty Little Thing or go for a bold bright pink to really stand out from the crowd.
