Is Expedia ATOL protected?

Flight packages bought on Expedia are ATOL protected, however ATOL protection does not necessarily apply to all travel-related bookings made through Expedia. This means it’s a good idea to check the small print before you book your holiday.

If your booking is ATOL protected, you should receive a certificate shortly after payment. This will list the parts of your holiday that have ATOL protection.

How do I cancel my Expedia flight and hotel booking?

To cancel a flight booking you made with Expedia, you will need to contact either the airline or Expedia. If the flight was with a low-cost airline, you should contact the airline directly, while, for full-service airlines you should call Expedia.

To cancel a hotel booking, sign in to your Expedia account and view your bookings. In “Upcoming”, select the itinerary you would like to cancel and then go to “Manage Booking”. Select “Cancel Room” and follow the instructions.

Most hotels will not charge you a cancellation fee and Expedia will not charge you anything. Be sure to check the Expedia terms and conditions before amending or cancelling any booking.

Can I change my booking?

If you have booked a trip with Expedia and would like to change any part of your booking, you will need to phone Expedia. The change procedure will then depend on your flight or accommodation supplier.

If they permit you to change your booking, then Expedia might charge you an administration fee, depending on the type of booking, in addition to any fees imposed by the supplier. You can often change your hotel or car rental booking for free.

When will I be charged for my booking?

This depends on your purchase. When you purchase a flight or package, Expedia will charge your card right away and you can expect the money to come out of your account within the next five days.

For hotel bookings, you will usually pay on arrival at the hotel – though the hotel may ask you to pay a deposit, which Expedia will charge you when you make your booking. The exceptions are "pay online bookings' and Expedia Unpublished Rate bookings, for which your card will be charged immediately.

What is the Expedia Price Guarantee?

In the Expedia Price Guarantee, Expedia states that, if you book a hotel room through Expedia and find it listed elsewhere for a cheaper price within 48 hours, Expedia will refund you the difference. The same goes for hotel and flight packages.
