Poor product, feel conned by cashback that was never paid
Booked room at Macdonald Highland Resort. At the time of booking, cashback was advertised as 10% with other hotels 5%. Booked July 2016 for stay in September 2016. Understood cashback would come a few months after stay - fine. But cashback tracked at only 5% despite what was advertised. Quidco weren't particularly helpful - raised a separate claim. Finally, in February 2017, separate claim was declined - surprise, surprise. I put it to Quidco that it wasn't a surprise given there was no separate transaction - no wonder it was declined. But Quidco refused to do anything about frankly underhand advertisement of a cashback rate that was never paid. To make matters worse, the hotel was poor. Despite website stating room with bath, was first given room with a shower, but we were moved - although staff weren't interested in what website said. The rooms are small and despite having been updated, still poor for what you pay. Bedroom was in wing accessed by a fire escape door left ajar - totally open to anyone coming in without any security whatsoever. Bedroom wing corridors are like a dilapidated motel from the 1970s. No one even asked how our stay was when we checked out - I assume they make their money from coach parties and don't really care about anyone else. The 'resort' is also poor for anyone arriving by public transport - next to no signage, and totally inadequate lighting. In short, overpriced, and cashback saga just dishonest.
