The FlexDirect account could be right for you if you're after an account that pays you interest when you have money in your account and you prefer to do your banking online or over the phone.
Cashback will only be paid to customers who are accepted for a FlexDirect account and who have completed a full switch online to Nationwide from a non-Nationwide current account using their Current Account Switch Service.
If you use an arranged overdraft of £1,200 the amount Nationwide will charge you is 50p per day (variable)
*After 12 months the interest rate reverts to 1% gross pa./AER (variable) on balances up to £2,500. Interest paid monthly. Advertised rates correct at 1 January 2016 and these rates can be changed at any time. Age 18+.
You must be aged 18 or over to apply for FlexDirect (UK residents only). AER stands for 'annual equivalent rate' and illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest were paid and compounded each year.
The gross rate of interest is the interest rate payable before any income tax is deducted (if you do pay tax). Under the terms and conditions of this account, customers are only guaranteed the 5% AER promotional credit interest rate on one FlexDirect account. Any additional FlexDirect accounts held or more than one joint account held by you and another customer will result in the credit interest rate being reduced from 5% (4.89% gross p.a) to 1% gross p.a/AER (variable) within 7 working days of the account being opened.
**Overdrafts are only open to those aged 18 or over (UK residents only) and are subject to approval. When you apply for an account, Nationwide will inform you if they can offer you an arranged overdraft.
