Running the marathon is one of the most difficult and fulfilling challenges that people undertake. It’s a test of determination and mental resilience as much as it is of physical fitness. In order to have the best marathon experience, it’s of huge importance that you have the right clothing and equipment. Along with your training routine and fitness, having the right gear can make or break your marathon. With years of design and engineering experience, Nike have produced running shoes and clothing for optimal performance, comfort and resilience in your long-distance running.
First things first: running shoes. No matter how much training you’ve done, a poor pair of running trainers can really make 26 miles even more of a struggle than it already is. If you’re a really serious runner (and not restricted to a tight budget), then you could go for one of, if not the, best running trainers on the market right now. With its responsive foam and full-length plate, the ‘Nike Zoom Vaporfly 4%’ has been designed specifically for the marathon. Olympic athletes Mo Farah and Elid Kipchoge will be wearing this trainer to the marathon this year. What more do you need to know?
At just over £200 these running shoes are serious stuff. If you want to spend a bit less but still get a great pair of trainers, the ‘Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo’ could be right for you. Costing £159.95, it uses the same design and technology that’s developed for Olympic runners. Its feather-lite upper and close fit mean you’ll have a speedy and comfortable run. What’s more, its sleek design make it a fashionable trainer for wearing in your day-to-day life. Available in five different colours, you can get a design that suits your style.
A good pair of running shoes is not the only important bit of gear you need to run the marathon. For maximum freedom in your running performance, you’ll need to find the right pair of shorts. For women, Nike’s ‘Women’s 3" Running Shorts’ are designed with a split along the side seam for easy movement. And they’re equipped a pocketing system that allows you to keep essentials close without hindering momentum. For men, the ‘Nike Challenger’ shorts come optimal breathability to help you fight the sweat. Both pairs of shorts cost under £30. Ensure that you follow the links from this page to the Nike site in order to earn cashback on your purchases.
