Daniel and Shane started HyGYM in 2020 from a single garage on a mission to help keep gyms open during the global pandemic, and support mental health. We originally provided PPE equipment for gyms.

We quickly realised that whilst PPE equipment was invaluable for gyms, the spread of Covid-19 would close all gyms in the UK for some time. So the mission changed. As gym-goers ourselves, we knew that not having access to gym equipment would have a significant impact on both the physical and mental health of many people.

We wanted to support and supply the UK with affordable, high-quality home gym equipment. We wanted to help and encourage everyone across the country to keep training. It was a very tough time to be launching a gym equipment business but we pushed on and combated many unforeseen circumstances along the way: Brexit, global demand, stockpiling, bad weather, driver shortages… You name it, we saw it it’s about HyGYM. It seemed everything, and everyone was experiencing a national shortage.

However, despite being a start-up and having to navigate through times nobody had ever seen before, we continued to fight and overcome our challenges. We invested everything we had into stock and made the bold decision to take on our first employee.

The demand for fitness equipment continued to rise, and we were fast running out of space. We knocked on the door of a local farmer, who provided us with a barn. This enabled us to scale up the business to meet the growing demand for our products. At the same time, we surrounded ourselves with a team of like-minded people. A team who are just as passionate about providing affordable and high-quality gym equipment to people setting up a gym in their homes. We now had a 3,000sqf barn to work with. Whilst it was -4 degree conditions, it was watertight, and it gave us the foundations to create the working environment we wanted. This allowed us the space to design and manufacture gym products here in the UK. And become one of the UK’s leading suppliers of home gym equipment.

With your continued support, we very quickly outgrew the barn. With the world slowly moving back to more normal times, we managed to secure a much larger premises in Swindon.

This enabled us to be more efficient (and warm!) in our customer response and delivery times. We grew our product range and designed more products in-house – based on your feedback. We now offer a next day delivery and a click and collect service.
